DESIGN A LEAFLET FOR FRONTLINE SOLDIERS

Captain Peacock has been ordered to make a leaflet called "THE HIDDEN ENEMY" for the front line and he has asked YOU to help. Using the information and images on this site create a 4 page leaflet to help soldiers protect themselves against lice. Remember to use the kind of language familiar to soldiers such as "walking", "infested" and "vermijelli". Try the following format

PAGE 1
A dramatic and eye-catching title page.
Choose images and language that will grab the attention of soldiers and encourage them to take notice of the rest of the leaflet.

PAGE 2
Why soldiers should protect themselves from lice.
Select information that tells the soldiers why lice are a problem in the trenches.
Tell them about the diseases, where lice live, how many there may be and what they live off. Illustrate your information with pictures from the sources.

PAGES 3 AND 4
Information about how to get rid of lice.
Tell the men how to try to keep lice under control. Begin by explaining that some of the old ways of getting rid of lice (such as burning them off or insecticides) are not always effective. In your own words present the advice of Captain Peacock and explain why his methods will work. Remember to include lively information from the sources: recipes, hot ironing, recommendations about washing clothes.
